Yes, your metabolism is responsible for fat loss, but there are actually three other roles it’s in charge of that you’re neglecting.

This is where most women get weight loss so wrong. Your metabolism isn’t just in charge of weight loss—there are THREE things it has to do first before it decides whether to store or burn fat. You are hanging onto weight loss for dear life, but if your metabolism isn’t supported in the first three things, it’s going to hang onto fat for dear life. It’s literally how your body was wired. ⤵️

Note: Your metabolism is UNIQUE to you! What your individual one needs is different than what your friend needs. But no matter what, there are THREE things your metabolism has to do BEFORE it decides to burn fat…

  1. BRAIN POWER🧠 Yes, your metabolism is actually in charge of fueling your brain, pumping blood to your heart—that’s its most important job! Literally, it’s in charge of supplying energy to every process in your body. Think of your metabolism like your monthly budget. When the paycheck comes in, it has to fund the most important bills first—the ones responsible for keeping you alive!

    If you don’t have enough coming in, your body will pull energy from anywhere to keep these critical systems running. IE - if this isn’t satisfied, your body will store fat instead of burning it. Because pumping blood to your heart and taking care of your brain are absolutely more important than how you look in the mirror, which is why this is step #1!

  2. REPAIR 👩🏼‍🔧 This is where your body fixes what’s been damaged. Think muscle recovery, hormone regulation (SUPER IMPORTANT IN MIDLIFE), skin health, immune function, and rebalancing your nervous system. But here’s the catch — repair is optional if your body doesn’t feel safe. Your metabolism will shut this phase down if energy’s low or stress is too high. So your symptoms get worse if this phase isn’t fueled.

  3. RECHARGE YOUR ENERGY HUB ⚡️ After the first two are funded, then your metabolism starts topping off short-term fuel tanks — your liver, your muscles — to give you steady energy between meals, maintain blood sugar, and help you power through your day. Think of this as your body getting ready for that second shift: after the laptop closes and you still have to make dinner, help with homework, and be present with your partner. That’s one of the jobs of your reserves. If you’re exhausted by 3 pm, craving a nap, feeling like your cravings are in control of you, your metabolism isn’t fueled to get to this step.

  4. BURN OR STORE🔥 This is where your metabolism decides: “What should I do with what’s left?”

    If your body feels safe and fueled, it will go into fat burning — meaning it uses stored fat for energy.” But, here’s the crazy thing…the more you neglect the first three phases and only focus on weight loss, the HARDER your body rebels, and even if you lose a little bit of weight initially, it will ultimately shift into fat storage, and the weight will come back—making fat loss feel impossible—especially in midlife.
